What is EPS?

  plastispan

EPS is the acronym for moulded expanded polystyrene. A common misnomer in the marketplace is to refer to all expanded polystyrene products as styrofoam. For instance, the white EPS coffee cups used to reduce heat transferred from hot coffee to your fingertips are commonly referred to as "styrofoam cups." This misnomer is often carried over into other EPS product applications. However, all Plasti-Fab EPS insulation products are marketed under the registered trade name of PlastiSpan™.

PlastiSpan insulation is a rigid closed cell foam plastic. It is lightweight and easy to handle and the closed cell structure assures constant thermal performance and excellent resistance to moisture absorption. PlastiSpan insulation is inert to a wide range of chemicals. It has no food value and will not attract insects, parasites or animal and plant life.

Plasti-Fab EPS products are used in the construction of buildings as insulation for roofs, walls, floors or foundations and as the insulation component in building systems; in mechanical applications for cold storage and ice arenas; and as insulation for utilities. Geotechnical engineered applications include lightweight fill material used in landscape design or the building of roads and compressible fill material used between concrete structures and expansive soils. Buoyancy product applications include the floating of docks, rafts, breakwaters and concrete pods for floating structures. Plasti-Fab EPS products are also used in packaging, display and numerous other custom applications.
