Plasti-Fab’s Culture of Sustainability

At Plasti-Fab, we care about the future of the planet, and the impact modern practices can have on climate change. We are committed to conducting our operations responsibly, mindful of the economic, environmental, and social impacts.

Our Commitment to Responsible Operations

We believe responsible sustainability requires meeting stakeholder needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

We operate our business in an environmentally responsible, efficient, safe, and respectful manner. This principle shapes how we treat employees, shareholders, customers, and the communities where we live and work, as well as how we manufacture every product carrying the Plasti-Fab name.

Our Sustainability Track Record

We also foster a culture built around sustainability from product development to manufacturing processes, and corporate initiatives. In fact, every product we manufacture is designed to help customers use fewer resources, lower emissions, and reduce waste while providing exceptional performance.

For more than 15 years, we’ve been reporting the material impacts of our operations, tracking emissions, energy usage, resource consumption, and waste generated at every facility.  We also established a Sustainability Committee to ensure accurate reporting and continuous improvement

Making EPS the Greenest Insulation

Plasti-Fab’s expanded polystyrene (EPS) represents one of the most sustainable insulations available. Our EPS products are manufactured without hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), a chemical with ozone-depleting potential that is commonly used in in other insulation.

Protecting the Environment

Pentane, the blowing agent that gives EPS its insulating structure, is produced by biological processes, from plant decomposition to animal digestion and accounts for only about 0.2% of total human-made VOC emissions. It also has minimal impact on the ozone since humidity and UV light break it down into carbon dioxide and water before it can rise to the stratospheric altitudes where it could impact the ozone.

Conserving Energy in Homes

According to EUMEPS (European Manufacturers of EPS), a well-insulated detached home requires only about 30% of the annual heating energy of poorly insulated ones. That adds up to roughly 300,000 kg less carbon dioxide released over a 50-year period.
